Information Architecture for Crop Growth Simulation Model Applications
نویسندگان
چکیده
There is a growing concern that climate changes will lead to significant impact to agriculture, thus having a global effect in food production. The application of crop models to study the potential impact of climate change and climate variability provides a direct link between models, science and the concerns of the society. The objective of this work is to demonstrate an information architecture that consistently and coherently achieves the requirements for data availability and use model integration for crop models researchers. The system includes a database structure for storage of model input and output data. The information architecture, and its constituent crop models, is being applied in evaluating farming practices, technological innovation and climate variability/change impact on agriculture in Southern part of Brazil. This effort is part of the global Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project (AgMip).

A robust crop model can assist in genetic improvement and cultural management of the crop. The objectives of this study were to describe a wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) model and to report results of its evaluation. The model simulates phenological development, leaf development and senescence, crop mass production and partitioning, plant nitrogen balance, yield formation and soil water and ...
متن کاملCrop Growth and Productivity Monitoring and Simulation Using Remote Sensing and Gis
Crop growth and productivity are determined by a large number of weather, soil and management variables, which vary significantly across space. Remote Sensing (RS) data, acquired repetitively over agricultural land help in identification and mapping of crops and also in assessing crop vigour. As RS data and techniques have improved, the initial efforts that directly related RS-derived vegetatio...

A water simulation model (WaSim) to simulate the growth and development of Amaranthus cruentus as well as the components of water balance for a typical sandy-clay-loam soil of Akure has been described. Dry season experiments were carried between January and March of 2005 and 2006. Amaranthus seeds were established on the field and three irrigation water managements were imposed on the crop to d...
